Overview
About the event
WR Chess brings Team USA and Team Uzbekistan to Miami for a two-day rapid and blitz team match. Four players a side meet in a Scheveningen pairing on four boards: every player faces each opponent once in rapid and twice in blitz across twelve rounds.
Day one is rapid — four rounds at 15 minutes plus a 10-second increment. Day two is blitz — eight rounds at 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment. Each round of four games counts as one match: a won match scores two points, a drawn match one.
If the teams are level on match points after all twelve rounds, total board points decide. If still tied, a single Armageddon game settles it — White has 4 minutes, the Black player is decided by a time bid, and a draw counts as a win for Black. The event is FIDE rapid and blitz rated; the team and board-order draw takes place at the players' dinner on July 26.
